Interactive Fish Kill Map Using Google Earth

North Carolina fish kill information for the current year is now available in an interactive map using Google Earth software. The Google Earth program and support information are free and may be downloaded at the links below.

Google Earth User Guide

Google Earth Terms and Conditions

Note: If Google Earth is already present on your machine make sure it has been updated to the latest version for best results.

The new interactive format provides better visual representations of current fish kill activity across the state and allows the user more control in the visualization process. Detail reports of each fish kill event are also available and may be accessed by clicking on the event in the Google Earth map. Detail reports are Adobe Acrobat .pdf files that can be read with the free Acrobat Reader.

After downloading and installing the Google Earth and Acrobat Reader software to you computer, click on or paste the link below into your web browser. A coverage of 2009 fish kill events should load into the Google Earth window and you may begin the interactive process.
